Brief History
Preface
Kaohsiung Municipal Min-Sheng Hospital was a very noted
and long history hospital in Kaohsiung city. It established
in 1914, initially called“Takao Hospital”and had internal
medicine, surgery and ophthalmology three therapeutical
departments In 1945, after recession from Japaness occupation,
the name of Taiwan Provincial Hospital was replaced the
former name and added the department of OBS., Pediatrics,
ENT, Dermatology ect. There were 150 admission beds in 1958.
The Taiwan Provincial Kaohsiung hospital relocated to the
present spot in 1978 and changed the name to Kaohsiung Municipal
Min-Sheng Hospital. Owing to building reconstructure and
facilities renewed, the admission beds increased to 453
, the departments of administration and therapy increased
to 32 ,made the total staffs up to 494 in 1983. From 2002-2005,
Kaohsiung Municipal Min-Sheng Hospital is a regional teaching
hospital assessed bythe Department of Health (DOH).
In the September 2003. The hospital was assigned as the
infection disease hospital by the Department of Health.
Currently apart from continuing to match the government’s
implementation of nationwide health care policies, the hospital
still take the responsibilities of infection disease treatment.
The main power and inner organization of Kaohsiung Municipal
Min-Sheng Hospital included a superintendent , two vice-superintendent
(included 1 medical vice-superintendent and 1 executive
vice-superintendent), one secretary, 37 sorts of medical
department and 8 administrative office. The total staffs
in our hospital are up to 462 at the present time. The hospital
organization also comprised 22 sorts of committees, which
to command and evaluate administrative efficiency and therapeutic
quality. Currently, The hospital treats approximately 1141
outpatients, 38 emergency patients, 214 Inpatients per day
(The aforementioned data is based on information as of September(2004),In
this highly changeable and competitive health care environment,
KMMH will continue the commitment in our mission and vision
to raise the quality of medical care and reinforce health
promotions among the community.

Patient Guide
Admission Service
Procedures:
1. Please go to the admission registration window on the first floor (during office hours) The registration window in the emergency medicine department on the scheduled date of hospitalization.(during non-office hours)
2.Please take the ID card, the national health insurance card and related certificates (for example: major illness card, veteran certificate, the handicapped’s handbook, and children’s handbook) to the hospital to make arrangement for hospitalization.
3.The patient is required to sign a hospitalization agreement. After the patient arrived at the ward, a ward orientation and important information will be provided.
4. The patient needs to bring underclothing and daily necessities. The hospital
provides patient blankets. There is a convenience store in the hospital. Please do
not bring precious articles when hospitalized.
5.The Health Insurance Card (or Health Insurance Handbook) will be kept by the hospital after check-in. It will be returned to the patient on discharge.
Office Hours of the Registration Windows
1.08:17:30 Monday to Friday.
2.08:00-12:00 on Saturday
3. Please go the registration window in the emergency medicine department for hospitalization in non-office hours.
Fee Assessment:
1. Basic expenses:
Diagnosis fee: the day of check-in and check-out will be counted
Ward fee: the day of check-in will be counted, that of check-out will not be counted.
2. Services not covered by The national health insurance will be paid by the patient.
3. A co-payment of $1500 per day is charged for a single room.
Check-out Procedures:
1.Check-out is handled at the nursing station. The nurses will help the patient to check-out and print the bill for the patients to pay at the registration window, on the first floor.
2.On discharge medicine for the follow-up period and pre-registration for next
outpatient clinic visit as well as any certificate (if requested) will be managed by the physicians.
3.Those who need certificates or a medical record in brief on discharge please notify the nurses or doctors in advance.

Outpatient Services
1. Approximately 15-20 consultation rooms are offered every morning and afternoon clinics. Evening clinics approximately 4-6 consultation rooms are offered each late evening, including internal medicine, surgery, urology, orthopedics, obstetrics and gynecology, Dermatology and dentistry.
2. We provide multi-kind convenient registration services for patients, including on-site registration, pr-registration by telephone (voice service), pr-registration by phone (personal assistance), or pr-registration by doctor.

Doctors may pre-registration for the patient
1.To complete a therapeutic cycle
2.If the patients condition need next visit at the clinic,before discharge of the patient form the ER
3.before discharge of the patient form the ward. |
3. It’s unnecessary to make pre-reservation for new patients. Please go to the registration counter to register on the first floor, and hand them your national health insurance card (IC) and ID card (foreigner may bring the passport or foreigner’s residency permit). When needed for fee deduction the following items are required:
Veteran certificate, Major illness card, The handicapped’s handbook. Children’s handbook.
4. Pre-registration by phone (personal assistance) or by telephone(voice service)more
convenient services for regular patient’s. The patient can register for two different
clinic on the same day. The patients directly to the clinic room, wait until your
registration number is displayed, then enter the clinic room and hand them your
national health insurance card (IC) to the clinic nurse check and marks it with a
seal. If indicated by patient’s disease, the doctor feels you need registration for the
2nd clinic of a different medical specialty, the clinic nurse can help transfer the
patient to the 2nd clinic.
5. All clinics are computerization, the doctor prescribes on the computer and pharmacy fills the prescription through the computer system to save patient’s waiting time. Service including registration, charge, and issuing of diagnosis certificate are offered by each desk worker in the outpatient department, there are pharmacy counseling and in addition, health education film are played through close-circuit TV set in the waiting room.
